Emiliano Zapata Salazar became a leading figure in the Mexican Revolution of 1910 – 1920, the main leader of the peasant revolution in the Mexican state of Morelos, and the inspiration of the agrarian movement known as Zapatismo.

Zapata was born in the rural village of Anenecuilco at Morelos State, in an age when peasant communities came under increasing pressure in the small-landowning course that monopolized water and land sources for sugar-cane production together with the aid of dictator Porfirio Díaz (President 1877-1880 and 1884-1911).

Following his passing, Zapatista generals tasked with Obregón from Carranza and aided drive Carranza from electricity (1920). In 1920 Zapatistas was able to acquire strong posts in the government of Morelos following Carranza’s collapse. They instituted a lot of those property reforms envisioned by Zapata in Morelos.
